Effective immediately, we will no longer be using the term, "Urban" on any of our existing platforms.
Our intent in adopting this label was to be respectful to foundational styles and to other dance communities. However, we have come to the understanding that there are harmful racial implications associated with it; we apologize for any perceived disrespect. No matter the intention, an offensive word to some, should be an offensive word to all.
For these reasons, we have officially renamed our facility MUSE STUDIOS.
We are committed to being proactive during these transformative times and we encourage others in our community to follow suit.
We are listening. We are learning.
We strive to be better and stand with our BIPOC brothers and sisters.
SOLIDARITY WITH BLACK, INDIGENOUS, & PEOPLE OF COLOUR (BIPOC)
MUSE Studios stands in solidarity with Black Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) individuals and communities, and condemns racism, discrimination, and state-sanctioned violence.
We understand that we are in a society and more importantly leaders in an industry with roots of systemic racism. We are listening and learning.
Our studio is committed to start using our platform to provide more opportunities and raise BIPOC up in our global dance community.
We understand that this will not come easy, but we are willing to do the work.
As a leader in our community we challenge our supporters to assist in raising awareness and find ways to help BIPOC communities as we work to put an end to systemic racism.
